"They're ATTACKIN' the GATE."
Sometimes I wanted to DASH that bastard who kept sayin (with such a snippy tone, mind you) "They're ATTACKIN the GATE ta WAYLAND KEEP!"

Ingenious
Intelligent, Witty, Astonishing, and Addicting!
Smartest game to come about in a long time. A pure masterpiece.
Ambitious, and excellent.
First and foremost, I can't sit here and bitch about the file size. As games and graphics become more complex, a larger file size is necessary for the sake of quality. QUALITY, in this game, was certainly delivered. I found it impressive your team, (and you can thank Evan Greenstone for this,) was able to work such complex situations into a fairly smooth delivery.
Artwork : Of course, I'm impressed as always by your work, MindChamber. Your style inspires me.
Music : Might I suggest different music for different sequences. The dodging sequences may have a different theme than the combat sequences, or at least a bit more variety in taste. This would keep the music from becoming redundant. I DO enjoy the genre, because it works well with the pace.
Gameplay : The use of zoom in sequences to trigger an upgrade was altogether my favorite part of this work. It was stunning, and it made me excited to continue forth.
In this setting, the mouse was difficult to use. A quick transfer in direction would often take me right off of the flash area. The key board settings were helpful for this problem, although they weren't responsive enough.
I absolutely love the idea of "combos." A continuing decimation of one's opponent is always welcome in my eyes, and it was extremely gratifying to obliterate the enemy robots only to be rewarded with a throng of upgrade shields.
The boss sequences could have been slightly more epic. More artwork and zoom in sequences. You pioneered new territory in flash gaming, why stop here?
Overall point : This was impressive. This juggernaut needs to escalate to a console. Yes, there are elements that need work. Your overall concept is brilliant, and I feel like this fish is a bit too big for internet streaming. You made it work, but with a little more effort (as if there wasn't enough poured into this piece!) you could make something bigger and greater. This project may be done in your eyes, as I'm sure you've spent countless hours into such an excellent design. I urge you to reconsider if that is the case, because I do think that this piece could be masterful on a larger platform.
Thank you for contributing such excellence, and raising the bar for other flashers.
thanks for the kind words man. I agree we shouldve mixed up the music a bit more. the game was already at 15 megs when the music started to get dropped in so we got alil thought it was a good idea to shave them down into managable loops.
as for a more dynamic boss encounter, I totally agree there's alot of stuff that got chopped because we were reaching the 40 meg mark, which is my upload limit.
If this type of style was ever tackled again it would have to be in real 3D . That would be the only way to make it run even smoother and keep the filesize down. Flash needs to catch up though, their 3D engines are really primitive.
thanks again.
Excellent job!
Pluses -
++ I enjoyed the health target at a 6x6 rate. It allowed close up manipulation and added much to the gameplay.
++ Awesome characters, attractive artwork
++ Great enemies.
++ Impressive use of various patterns to keep the game interesting.
++ Combat and damage system
Minuses -
-- None...except I think the upgrade system could have been more ellaborate.
Excellent.
Well f'in done
I appreciate that you all had the balls to submit first. Awesome peace, and tough to follow. Excellent for any resume :)
WOW , INCREDIBLE!
That was totally awesome! The only comment I would make for improvement is I think you should be able to fail a song midway. If you're messing up, the song just keeps going. I was intentionally trying to fail and it was impossible.
Excellent Style
In terms of game mechanics I found this to be a bit monotonous. However, this game is dripping with style. The aesthetic of it all is what made me want to play more, not the actual gameplay itself or the function of any real story line. I was interested to see the artwork, and what your creations would look like when I discovered them. All in all your "gift" left me well.
OMG....I Did it!!
I can't believe it....I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! I FINISHED! This game has been a feind in my nightmares all night last night and it has taken a good 7 hours of my life!
Franco is pretty smart...but on the day of the competition, Franco is a child...and I am his father.
