Ambitious, and excellent.
First and foremost, I can't sit here and bitch about the file size. As games and graphics become more complex, a larger file size is necessary for the sake of quality. QUALITY, in this game, was certainly delivered. I found it impressive your team, (and you can thank Evan Greenstone for this,) was able to work such complex situations into a fairly smooth delivery.
Artwork : Of course, I'm impressed as always by your work, MindChamber. Your style inspires me.
Music : Might I suggest different music for different sequences. The dodging sequences may have a different theme than the combat sequences, or at least a bit more variety in taste. This would keep the music from becoming redundant. I DO enjoy the genre, because it works well with the pace.
Gameplay : The use of zoom in sequences to trigger an upgrade was altogether my favorite part of this work. It was stunning, and it made me excited to continue forth.
In this setting, the mouse was difficult to use. A quick transfer in direction would often take me right off of the flash area. The key board settings were helpful for this problem, although they weren't responsive enough.
I absolutely love the idea of "combos." A continuing decimation of one's opponent is always welcome in my eyes, and it was extremely gratifying to obliterate the enemy robots only to be rewarded with a throng of upgrade shields.
The boss sequences could have been slightly more epic. More artwork and zoom in sequences. You pioneered new territory in flash gaming, why stop here?
Overall point : This was impressive. This juggernaut needs to escalate to a console. Yes, there are elements that need work. Your overall concept is brilliant, and I feel like this fish is a bit too big for internet streaming. You made it work, but with a little more effort (as if there wasn't enough poured into this piece!) you could make something bigger and greater. This project may be done in your eyes, as I'm sure you've spent countless hours into such an excellent design. I urge you to reconsider if that is the case, because I do think that this piece could be masterful on a larger platform.
Thank you for contributing such excellence, and raising the bar for other flashers.
